Sound on.
Eight seconds.
There's a thing about you I worked out very early and have never actually said out loud, because every time I tried it came out sounding smaller than it is.
You are the ride-or-die type. Not the way people say that about themselves, but the way it shows up when something has actually gone wrong. You don't go quiet. You don't get distant. You don't start protecting yourself first. You come closer. I have watched you do it more than once and I have never had to wonder, not for a second, whether you'd still be standing there on a bad day.
I found this, and it says the whole thing better than I can, much better than I can. I just didn't have words that beat it.
